The Dim Outlook of Hollywood and Films.

Well the Summer period for movies has come and gone, and this is the period where you get your biggest most bad ass films of the year. Everyone is fighting to be the best, but it didn't feel like that this year. All the mainstream films felt bleak and dull. The three biggest most anticipated movies of the summer. Iron Man 3, Man of Steel and Star Trek Into Darkness and lets throw Kick Ass 2 in there for the laugh.. All of them just...sucked, if you really think about it...Well maybe not Star Trek, that was the best one out of the lot.

The fact that the smaller, independent films are doing better and more worth a watch than the mainstream ones shows what audiences want these days. A good story, with good characters, slight humour with heart. Not over the top effects just for the sake of it, because that will not work. I recently watched an interview with Stephen Moffat. (Head Writer of Doctor Who at the moment) on writing tips, and he said something that just what I'm trying to say perfectly.

Don't do or write what you think people will enjoy. Do and write what you love and feel passionate about, because it will never work.

To me this is what Hollywood has come down to, throwing everything that producers think people will enjoy, Explosion after explosion after explosion. Death after death after death, and they don't care because they get the money for it.

Films at the moment like The Way Way back or You're Next or even The Conjuring should get more recognition than they are getting. Why, because these are films that say. Yeah, we made something that we feel deeply and care about. Not lets make this for the money because people will come and see it.

Speaking of which there's the other side of that coin. Film like Pain and Gain, Grown Ups 2, and not released here yet (and god I hope its not) Getaway. A film that is not to hard to miss how much shit it is if you read reviews. These are films that are made by people who just want money and made by people who create something they think audiences want to see. But they don't care either way.

Adam Sandler and Michael Bay are renowned for this at the moment. Bay all his career, ruining franchises that people cared about.

At what point whilst reading a script did someone say or think, yeah a deer pissing on someone's face is funny, or and I'm going to go back in time here, yeah, a man with balls on his chin is funny, or a couple talking fornicating on each other is funny. It's not. Get a reality check.

Now I'm not claiming to be a better writer, but at least I know when my scripts are going to shit. I can re-read my script and think what the hell was I doing here, or that just doesn't work it needs changing. I've done so many re-writes of scenes and everything just to get to a level that I feel comfortable with, because it wasn't working or it just wasn't good.

I can go on with this but with looking at future movies, we are in for this, for a long, long time. So I might as well enjoy the ride. However for cinemas I hope people will join me, but I will take care in what I go to see from now on., and put my money into something that deserves it more.

The state of TV Shows

Is it me, or is TV just complete shit these days.

Yes a few good dramas are leaking through the cracks of the recession like Eutopia and In the Flesh, but most TV shows these days are really, really pointless. Especially when it comes to ITV, which is considered one of the two biggest programmes on British TV around.

Over the past like month, two shows have appeared on TV that have got slated by audiences and wondered just why it got made. Those are Your Face Sounds Familiar and You Saw Them Here First. Two shows which I don't watch but I know about because people complain about how bad they really are.

And it's starting to effect all genres. Comedies like Vicious, that was not even funny, or Tipping Poing in the game show world. Even kids programmes like In The Night Garden. All are rubbish and a complete waste of time. What happened to the good old days with shows like Fawlty Towers or Play Your Cards Right. Shows that you could enjoy with your family, that were just a hell of a lot of good crazy fun, that you could genuinely have a laugh at. Nowhere, because they think we want to watch idiots make even bigger idiots out of themselves, and we give it to them.

Things like Paddy Mcguiness try to be funny, or Simon Cowell's smug face in every reality show ever going. Speaking of reality, why is it every Saturday night of every month practically something reality has to be on? This is what is bring the TV state down, they are thinking of anything they can, just to earn money. Which idiot thought. Hey I know, lets make a programme that has people dressing up as singing and singing songs. Yeah, that was called Stars in Their Eyes mate, and it was a dam sight better then the piece of shit you made.

Yes I know we are in a recession, but come on. There's got to be a line or a bar or something to make people think. This is no good at all. I don't want to watch this. And yet they still do. That's what pisses me off the most. They watch it and then complain about it. Here's a hint. If you don't want it to be on. Don't fucking watch it. Then they'll cancel it.

Seriously with everything that's coming on. You can probably walk up to a TV producer and say Hey, How about a show where we dress someone up in some shitty outfit and then we get them to do stupid tasks to people of the public. Knowing TV these days. You'll get it commissioned.

Until next time.

I'm Bored.

Has it really been since July since I was ranting about The Amazing Spiderman or even a year since the snubfest that was the 2012 award season. Of course it has what am I on about? Doesn't seem all that long ago to be honest. Even shorter since we was celebrating the Olympics.

In fact why am I doing this just out of complete randomness? As a matter of fact do people even do blogs any more? Is blogging something that has gone out of the window too? I don't think it should with the amount of time people sit on arse on their laptops, tablets, ipads and whatever these kids you'd think blogging would be a big thing, but it doesn't seem to be, or maybe I just don't care at all. Whatever happened to going outside and kicking a football around with friends, or just doing something outside. Everyone's life just seems to revolve around a screen nowadays. Especially mine, but then again, thinking back, not that much as changed.

I used to come in from school, 3:30 Monday to Friday, wack on the TV and watch the likes of Hey Arnold, Recess and Dexters Lab, the old classic 90s kids cartoons. Or even listen to some 90s music. Afterwards it's outside to play. Now all the kids programmes have been demoted to one channel and to the likes of  In the Night Garden. Programmes that kids grow out of easily, and pop music was still decent. People even had jobs then through of Thatcher. Now it's just crap after more crap. Cameron makes up lies, people are on the dole and kids are acting like bloody assholes. Maybe because they spend too much time staring at a screen all day. Man times change, but I'm reminiscing too much. I'd better find some other way to pass the time now.
